this was written by a cat lover, alright! i adore that we learn about our main character by never seing the story from his eyes. following his life friendship after friendship and ending it with his aunt, the woman who found him, was incredible. i cried genuinely uncontrollably for 5 hours towards the end. there is simply nothing bad i could say. -

"SENT I NOVEMBER" by Tove Jansson

surprsisingly melancholic, i learnt so much about snufkin and the fillyjonk, which made me love and appreciate them even more. i think fondly of reading this in dark chilly days, just as it was in the book. likely from the translation, but it was a bit hard to follow at times.

"ANNE OF GREEN GABBLES" by L.M. Montgomery

i laughted and i cried, such a well written children's book, i even learnt quite a few words reading it. i once stood for a few hours waiting in the park on a damp bench reading this and a crow was hopping around me. i only wish it went deeper in some parts. -

"LEGENDBORN" (& "BLOODMARKED") by Tracy Deonn

had a blast, it was kind of hilarious at times and i must admit i'm fully invested in the characters, looking forward to the finale. i also learnt a lot i didn't know about black history reading this. all in all, this was a book made with loads of passion, you could feel it. -

"ПОЛУРАЗПАД" ("half-life") by Мария Гетова

first poetry collection i bought for myself and it was kind of special, because i got to meet the author. the poems were often short and to the point, almost scientific and cold, and the collection's main themes were losing yourself and not knowing who you are. i found it nice to read, but at the same time i wasn't too attached to it. i know for a fact i'd've loved this, had i read it a little sooner though. -

i always thought classics were boring, but i had so much fun reading this. the writing was so pleasant, it's rythm would get stuck in my head.

"THE DARKNESS OUTSIDE US" by Eliot Schrefer

randomly saw it under the new release section on goodreads, ended up binge reading it twice. when have i ever reread a book??? NEVER, first time. the twist wasn't something i expected and even thought i knew we're just halfway done with the story and this isn't the end, i was still crying my eyes out as if it was, so tender. likely not the best book in the world but it absolutely ROCKED mine.

i was super duper excited about WINGS OF FIRE when i first read it, it inspired me to make dragon stories. this was also my first order from bookdepository (rip), but continuing the series with book #3 and #4 some time later i realised many things were wrong in the series, so took back my rating. regardless, that was my best book of 2020.

"A PLACE CALLED PERFECT" - Helena Duggan

the imagery was really vivid and the story was so curious and unique. main issue is that the 2nd half, when it was supposed to be the most intense, was slow and boring gahhhhhh. -
